Способ жидкофазного восстановления железа, разработ. шведской фирмой Болиден в 1972 г. Начиная с 1982 г. периодич. работает опытно-промышл. установка (рис.) произв-тью 192 т/сут. Концентрат, флюс и уголь вводятся в плавильно-восстановит. циклон, где руда восстанавл. до вюстита FeO и плавится. Степень дожигания СО до СО2 регулируется кол-вом вдуваемого кислорода. Расплав стекает в электрошлаковую печь сопротивления, где и происходит окончат. жидкофазное восстановление железа, его науглероживание, формирование слоев чугуна (3,5 % С; 1 % Si; 0,03 % S) и шлака. Теплота отходящих газов (1900 °С) используется в котле-утилизаторе. Уд. расходы энергоносителей (на 1 т чугуна): угля 620 кг; кислорода 530 м3; электроэнергии 330 кВт • ч.
